Getting started

Upgrading to our next-generation AI voices

We’re upgrading our voice infrastructure to bring you the next generation of AI voices and a larger library to choose from. All existing features, including custom voice design and acting instructions, will continue to work.

What you need to do

Before November 7, 2026, choose Upgrade voice library at the bottom of this article. Confirm when you’re ready: switching immediately retires access to the legacy library and cannot be undone. New accounts already use the new library.

When you upgrade, all legacy voices in your scripts reset to Me, including the narrator and custom voices. Open Voices in each script and choose new voices for the roles you want AI to read. Your scripts remain accessible and editable throughout.

The library is different, so your existing voice selections cannot transfer automatically. Acting instructions remain in your scripts and can be used with the replacement voices.

Your scripts and existing audio

Upgrading does not delete your scripts or acting instructions. Choose a new AI voice and regenerate the lines to hear them in the new voice. Existing audio files you have downloaded are unaffected.

Changing a character’s voice means its lines need audio in that new voice. There is no need to reimport the screenplay.

Custom voices

You can still design custom voices in the new library. Existing custom voices do not transfer: design replacements and assign them to your characters. Giving acting instructions continues to work too.

Extra allowance during the transition

Existing subscribers receive a temporary increase equivalent to approximately 90 minutes of regular voice generation while their subscription is active. This is included in your account’s available allowance until November 7, 2026, whether or not you have switched yet. Actual audio duration varies, and custom voice design and acting instructions can use more credits.

This is a temporary allowance increase, not a separate credit balance. Your usual billing resets still apply. At the deadline, your normal allowance returns. If you have already used more than that allowance, you will need to wait for your next reset before generating more audio. New accounts receive their normal allowance.

The automatic upgrade

On November 7, 2026, at 00:00 UTC, all remaining accounts switch automatically and the temporary extra allowance ends. Switch before then to use the extra allowance to regenerate your scripts. After the automatic upgrade, your scripts still open normally, but you must choose replacement voices before generating more audio.
